The Historical Society Open Houses for the winter holidays have special dates. Instead of the last Sunday, which is Thanksgiving, we will be open November 18, from 2:00 to 5:00. The program on that day is a road show in conjunction with the Lake Erie Chapter 28 of The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, NAWCC. Because of its popularity this has become an annual event. The chapter is comprised of members from Northeastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania who are committed to furthering the study of horology which is the science of measuring time and the art of constructing devices to measure time. Members will be at museum with a clock and watch identification road show. People can bring in their family timepieces and learn more about their treasures. This includes watches, wall clocks or that old clock you keep on the piano that is right twice a day. The open house will be from 2:00 to 5:00.
The museum will be open as always and there will be refreshments. We have a great collection of books for sale including Beyond the Monument: The Civil War Soldiers of Twinsburg by member, Veronica Hughes and a great TimeLine compiled by Dale Diersing.
On December 5 all are invited to gather at the Riley House on Liberty Road at 7:00 for the annual Christmas potluck celebration. This is a wonderful way to tour the house, and to experience what life may have been like back in the day. More details to follow but it is never to early to save the date.
